About

Senior operators, not consultants

Strathberg was founded to give funds and corporates access to experienced technology and cyber leadership — without building a large internal function.

Why Strathberg

We have run the functions we now advise on.

We are the externalised Portfolio CTO and CISO function for mid-market private equity sponsors, and the senior intervention firm corporate boards reach for when a technology or cyber function has stopped working.

Not a generic consultancy. Not an oversized internal build. Not asset-by-asset improvisation that leaves funds without a coherent view of their portfolio.

Our experience comes from leading large-scale technology, cyber, governance, and operating uplift in complex businesses — retail, telecoms, manufacturing, utilities, and intelligence.

That means faster diagnosis, more direct recommendations, and execution support from operators who know what delivery actually looks like from the inside.

Partners

Senior operators leading every engagement

George Mudie, Senior Partner at Strathberg

George Mudie

Senior Partner

George advises on technology transformation, cyber resilience, and AI-native operating improvement. He supports leadership teams and investors to assess, prioritise, and execute — with operational discipline and commercial focus.

He has led global technology and security for a €20bn retailer operating across 81 markets and ~130,000 colleagues as Group CTO and CISO, and was previously CISO at ASOS, where he rebuilt the cybersecurity function and introduced an AI fraud platform that paid back in three months. Earlier, he directed product and engineering at News UK (The Times, The Sunday Times, The Sun), launched Sky+, Sky HD and Sky Anytime at Sky, and at Vodafone represented technology in the integration of acquired businesses as part of the post-deal team. He began his career as an R&D officer at the UK Ministry of Defence.

George has worked directly with Apax Partners, Inflexion, and H&M Ventures on technology and cyber diligence for acquisitions and portfolio-company transformation. For Apax, he stabilised the platform and team at WGSN, the digital asset within the EMAP group. For Inflexion, he coached the CEO of Kinetic — the world’s largest provider of agricultural data — through the shift from manual Excel-and-PowerPoint delivery to a scalable digital service model.

He holds multiple patents in cybersecurity, contributes to the UK National Cyber Security Centre and the National Crime Agency through advisory forums, and completed executive programmes at London Business School and MIT Sloan.

Dan Vale

Partner

Dan advises investors and management teams on cyber transformation, turnarounds, operating model improvement, resilience, and value creation. His work spans cybersecurity programme delivery, technology operations, governance, and the legal-regulatory dimension — including AI governance, where he has published and advised regulators.

Most recently, Dan was Director of Cybersecurity at the LEGO Group (€8.8bn revenue, ~25,000 employees), where he developed and executed the Cybersecurity Strategy 2025–2027, delivered NIS2 readiness across factory and energy-generation operations, and directed BC/DR and ransomware recoverability validation.

Prior to LEGO, he held senior cybersecurity leadership roles at a €20bn global retailer — where he led IT transformation delivering ~€150m in cost savings, delivered €10m+ in cyber run-rate savings and €15m+ in fraud exposure reduction, and built the global GRC function from greenfield to ISO 27001-aligned operation across 10 brands, 72 markets, and ~120,000 colleagues.

Dan is a submitted-and-awaiting-defence PhD candidate at Leiden University researching machine-learning transparency in financial services, co-founder and Vice-Chair of the Foundation for Best Practices in Machine Learning (advising European financial and data regulators), and an admitted attorney with earlier cybersecurity practice experience at Glyn Marais and at Webber Wentzel in alliance with Linklaters. He holds ISO 27001 Lead Implementer certification and a Harvard Cybersecurity and Risk Management post-graduate certificate.

Delivery model

Partner-led, on every engagement.

Both partners deliver personally on every engagement. There is no junior associate layer, no offshore delivery centre, and no team pyramid behind the partner who pitched. Where forensic incident response, full security operations, or other specialist capability is required to complete an engagement, we engage trusted and proven third parties under our oversight.
